RECLAIM

When we decide to reclaim we choose to consciously step back in alignment with our true authentic self. Discovering and reconnecting with one’s self, to the very depths of our being, is at the heart of soul led psychotherapy.

Our whole life we have been conditioned to acclimate to the world around us rather than honor and align with what is happening within us. We certainly need to be able to function in both environment and society – though prioritizing our own needs based on our values really needs to hold more weight. Especially as we develop ourselves and humanity now and moving forward.

The Pattern of Pain

We create from our depths – whether we realize this or not. Life holds joy, mystery and magic which turns into opportunity, creativity and potential once we bring this connection forward for the world to see. It’s hard because for a lot of people, they had to hide or burry their sacred essence in order to survive.

For A LOT of people, going inward does not feel safe. It is actually triggering to slow down and tune into what is happening in our body, mind, heart and soul. Then A LOT of people aren’t even in a safe space – physically or emotionally – to consider turning inward and trusting the potent beauty and wisdom they contain. Not to mention so many have been told their inner world is full of demons so honoring their true self is an act of betrayal to God himself (or the Goddess herself).

Divinely Aligned

When you can honor or remember that you contain a divine spark – Christ, Buddha, Shiva, the Stars or whomever you believe in – sits within the fibers of your being, then you can start to get curious. Get curious because denying your light, your deepest self, your divine nature within is actually denying the divine itself. Curiosity to reclaim your sacred essence, an authentic connection, to your true self is an act of divine alignment. That reclaiming your beautiful and brilliant self is actually aligning with God’s will – we are all here to shine.

Let’s shelf the God talk for a moment.

Imagine a life where you just live for everyone else. Where you choose to keep the peace and please the people you encounter in life. Experiences that seem satisfying – at the time – because you love to bring joy to other people’s lives. But then at the end of it all you feel empty, depleted and exhausted. Then you start to push harder and you push yourself straight into burnout.

You find yourself fatigued because you gave away your life – living for everyone else. A life guided from the outside in rather than the inside out. Satisfying – maybe for a little while but then it actually turns depressing. Depressed because our brains are hardwired to grow with and contribute to the world around us. Exhausted because we pushed ourselves to depletion thinking we can figure everything out for everyone – everyone but ourselves.

Every one of us is hardwired to make a difference – not by loosing sight of or silencing our true self – but rather bringing our unique nature forward. We have been conditioned that to be of service we have to sacrifice or remain in survival. We contain, deep within, the ability to come forward and make a contribution to life. You can be of great service without the sacrifice. This service can be anything from serving as a diplomat for the United Nations building world peace to gathering garbage and creating order through cleanliness and hygiene. Regardless of what you do – you are making a difference because you are being you. Now imagine being this good humanitarian without the burnout, exhaustion, overwhelm, frustration and soul depletion!

To Reclaim is To Reconnect

Reclaiming your truth requires reconnecting with your inner wisdom – a practice of coming back to yourself. Where you slow down and listen to your inner self. And throwing the divine back into the conversation, this slowing down and tuning in – reclaiming your sense of self – is coming home to God.

Reclaiming in a soul-led psychotherapy framework is foundational for emotional and psychological resilience.  This right here brings greater clarity, peace and courage which is what we need to step forward responding to life’s wild unfolding.

When you reconnect with your inner values, desires, and personal boundaries, you begin to ground yourself in a deeper sense of authenticity and worth, rather than seeking validation externally. Being grounded is going to settle the nervous system reducing both anxiety and depression.

Benefits and Beyond

The grounding process allows you to regain a sense of control over your life. Shifting from reactive patterns of people-pleasing or self-sacrifice to a more empowered, centered state.

The ability to reclaim holds benefits for one’s self and society that are profound. You begin to experience greater emotional stability, you live with an enhanced self-trust, and a renewed ability to make choices aligned with your true needs and desires. What would it be like to sit in a room where everyone is calm, centered and consciously aware of their contributions?

Because we are open to reclaim our divinely designed truth we initiate a big shift. A transformational process that often leads to healthier relationships. Stable, respectful and mutually beneficial engagements with the people in our lives and beyond.

Relationships improve as there is no longer the unconscious pattern of overextending one self to maintain peace or approval. Instead you feel safe expressing your genuine self and others begin to also feel safe to be themselves as well. This time without neglecting your needs and values as you understand how to integrate your body, mind, heart and soul.

Another benefit in the journey toward reclaiming your sense of self will develop an inner resilience that empowers you to face life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. Feeling anchored in your own values and purpose.

When you intentionally reclaim you discover a level of resilience that helps you step back into alignment with your true authentic self. Reclaiming is a part of the process to embrace inner strength and rewrite the narrative of who you are beyond the roles, expectations and survival strategies that once defined you. It is an act of courage and self-trust. Allowing you to reconnect with your inherent worth and restore a sense of agency in your life.

Reclaim: What it Entails

Healing from Old Wounds

Releasing the emotional weight of past hurts, unmet needs, or distorted beliefs that have kept you disconnected from your core is a process of healing. No one is free from experiences that fragment their connection to their true self. This is a major reason clarity, even understanding, gets blocked. This is where (and why) we work together. In a relationship where your safety and success is a priority, we can work together to cultivate self-compassion, self-acceptance, and self – love. All of these are key ingredients in transforming pain into wisdom, peace and potential.

Redefining Boundaries

Getting clear on values and priorities so you can say no without guilt requires redefining boundaries. Then, when you say yes, it feels aligned with what matters most to you. It becomes a full body yes. This at first though is so uncomfortable because it is such a new way of orienting your relationship with yourself and life as a whole. Yet when you detangle from enmeshment or feeling overly responsible for others and put it into practice – redefining your boundaries and remaining true to you becomes a non-negotiable priority.

This is huge for empaths! While it can be really hard to know what is your energy versus someone else’s because you are so in tune to the emotions of everyone. That once you begin practicing tuning into your whole, integrated self first – then you can begining to discern what you are responsible for and what is beyond your capacity.

Trusting Your Intuition

Reestablishing trust with your inner voice as a guide to authentic living happens as you trust your intuition. When you reclaim this inner connection you can differentiate between the external noise and your inner knowing. This allows for choices that reflect who you truly are. Choices that leave you feeling confident even in moments of challenge.

Restoring Emotional Integrity

Believe it or not our emotions are a source of wisdom not something that needs to be suppressed or fixed. When we embrace this layer we ignite a sense of freedom. Though this is the part that keeps so many from doing the soulful side because it is work. The work of reclaiming means you feel, process and express emotions in healthy and authentic manner. It requires both a level of self responsibility and accountability. This is why the therapeutic relationship is so important – you want to be in dialogue with someone you feel safe with and that you trust. Emotional integrity means we know how to feel safe emotionally – feel grounded or settled even comfortable in our own skin and bones.

Owning Your Story

To reclaim means you will have to reframe the limiting beliefs and the shame that gets internalized taking back your life’s narrative. Again this part can be uncomfortable at first as there is another level of vulnerability. Yet vulnerability is a major part of authenticity. When you rewrite the narrative and own your story your life begins to reflect the resilience and potential you hold. A story where you own your truth without diminishing or shrinking yourself to meet others expectations.

Good news, when you choose to reclaim you already have a rough draft it just needs some refinements. The practice of refinement brings out your brilliance. With this comes radical change that feels soulfully aligned. When we commit to being soulfully or authentically aligned –  there is a huge amount of relief and satisfaction.

Centering Yourself In Your Life

Pleasing, performing and perfecting are all an outside in approach. When we reclaim we shift to an inside out approach. An approach where you claim your values, needs and desires. This can be hard if done without a helpful guide only because we have spent so much time tuning into what we think others need. Tuning into others leaves us unsure of our own needs and alignment. We return to a deeper alignment by prioritizing rest, reflection and renewal so you can rise up creating a life aligned with your essence. Yep, self care becomes essential – a non negotiable. We reclaim our sense of self – feeling safe and secure.

To reclaim is to find your center again – choosing to live a life aligned with your truth while also creating space where you get to thrive. Bonus – when you are doing well you inspire your loved ones to also care for themselves. It is a commitment to show up in the fullest expression of yourself. Grounded in reality as well as clear, confident and deeply connected to yourself and that which matters in life.

The invitation to reclaim is a process where you don’t just remember who you are at your core – you reclaim your rightful place in your life. Contact Teresa to start the process of reclaiming your authentic and centered self with a clarity consultation.
